Twiston Racing 18th January
Eight runners today, four at Haydock Park Racecourse, three at Ascot Racecourse and one at Taunton Racecourse.
1.15 - Townsend makes his seasonal debut and steps up in trip to 3m. Won nicely at Huntingdon last time over 2m 4f, rated 130 that day. Up to 136 here but will still be competitive and has a good each way chance. Jamie Neild rides in this amateur jockeys race and takes off 7lbs.
2.25 - Ballymoy won this from a mark of 147 last year and returns just 2lbs higher. Has run up a hat trick of 2nd places over fences this season, so returning to hurdles in good form and with another good chance from this mark. Daryl Jacob in the saddle.
3.00 - Flying Angel doubly engaged, 2.40 Haydock. Has had three races this term over trips around 2m 5f including a win over that here. Very capable on his day, has run well in those three races and is up 3lbs to 146. Preferred option is here, Sam rides, and a good run expected.
4.05 - Bit On The Side has had a couple of runs in mares only bumpers, going well to take 4th at Huntingdon last time. Makes her hurdles bow here in an open race and expected to show improvement for the obstacles. Another with each way chances, Jordan Nailor rides and claims 5lbs.
2.05 - Stolen Silver meets just three rivals here, but this looks very competitive too. Won comfortably at Ffos Las a couple of outings ago and arguably ran better when runner up at Cheltenham in December. Definitely on the upgrade and can be a threat to all here over this slightly shorter trip of 1m 7+f. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
2.40 - Flying Angel doubly engaged at Ascot, 3.00 - see above. Would take on a longer trip of 3m 1+f here which may stretch his stamina, but capable of seeing it out. Sam aboard.
3.15 - Ballyandy also meets just three rivals in a very competitive race. Has run well gaining creditable places at Cheltenham and Kempton over 2m & 2m 1f in December and will be suited by this track and the 1m 7+f. A good run expected, Sam rides.
3.45 - Muratello has had a couple of chase runs over 2m 4f this term and had wind surgery after the first of those. Showed some improvement after and now drops back to 2m over fences. Looks sure to show further improvement and could be a value each way chance down 3lbs to 125.
3.25 - Mr Antolini has had three chases this season, but returns to hurdles here. Should be suited by the 2m 4f and will appreciate the drop to 135 too, which should make him more competitive. A good run expected, Jamie Bargary rides.
