Team Twiston Cheltenham Festival Day Two

Day two of the Cheltenham Festival with four runners plus another five going to Huntingdon Racecourse for Team Twiston

Cheltenham Festival Day Two

1.30 - Ballymore Novices Hurdle

Mossy Fen has won 3 of his 4 hurdles to date, starting in a Worcester novice event over 2m 7f back in October. Followed that up with another win at Aintree, then a 4th of 8 here before returning to the winners enclosure over today’s trip at Warwick. This is clearly a step up, but deserves a place in the line up, is progressive and will be suited by conditions. Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle.

2.50 - Coral Cup

Ballymoy’s wins over hurdles last season took him to a mark of 152. He went chasing at the start of this term and his first three races saw three runners up berths when odds on favourite on each occasion. Was on 149 when 5th of 8 last time at Ascot when returning to hurdles, a race he won the previous year. Finds himself down a further pound here and with ground to suit, is expected to run well, though probably needs to find a little more to return to last seasons form. Daryl Jacob rides.

4.50 - Boodles Handicap Hurdle

Goa Lil started his season unseating his rider on his hurdles bow at Sandown, but put that behind him two outings later at Kempton winning in nice style making all over 2m. Was 4th at Musselburgh in the Scottish Triumph hurdle in early February and looks sure to come on for that. Is progressive and may have enough to threaten the places. James Bowen takes the ride.

5.30 - Champion Bumper

One True King showed promise in Ireland when winning a bumper in then joined us in January. Just six days later, he won a Ludlow bumper over 1m 6f making all and going clear. Another progressive sort, this is a big step up of course but can again make his presence felt. Sam Twiston-Davies aboard.

1.45 - Torn And Frayed has had four hurdles outing starting with a highly promising second of 11 at Warwick over 2m 5f in October and has shown similar promise since with another second over a similar trip at Ascot. Though last of four at Ascot again on his latest outing, he still went well enough to suggest that he may have the best form on offer dropped in class here. A good run expected, Jamie Bargary rides.

3.45 - Imperial Nemesis had shown ability in both bumpers and hurdles outings, but always looked to be needing a fence. He’s now had two chases and started with a 4th at Wetherby over 3m from a mark of 104, then a good second to a well-handicapped rival closing down from 8 lengths at the last to 2 lengths at the line from two pounds lower. On the same mark here from top weight over a similar trip, he has a good chance to open his account here. Jamie rides.

4.25 - Ballyart has had five chases, starting from a mark of 110 and was dropped to 102 after a couple of them. Has gone close since with two seconds and a third showing improvement and has a good opportunity to take advantage of that same mark here. Jordan Nailor rides and takes off 5lbs.

5.05 - Yaazaain makes his debut for us having joined from the John Hammond flat yard in France. Goes straight over hurdles having schooled well at home and hopeful of giving a good first time effort here. Jamie in the saddle.

5.40 - Highland Parc is another debutant in the bumper, related to bumper winners too. Again shown up nicely at home and expected to go well, though sure to come on for the experience, but can make his presence felt. Jordan rides.
