Team Twiston 8th February 2020

Six runners across three meetings today.

Warwick Racecourse

12.55 - Kingsplace won a bumper at this track and has since had three second placed hurdles outings, the latest at Chepstow over 2m 7+f three weeks ago after a long lay off. That was an encouraging run and dropped back to 2m 5f today, looks to have a good chance. Wears cheek pieces for the first time that we hope will help. Sam Twiston-Davies aboard.

2.05 - Torpillo is also a course winner here, also winning over the distance just two outings ago on his chasing debut. Up in a grade 1 last time at Sandown, some mistakes took their toll, but though this is also a grade 1, he can benefit from the course experience. Daryl Jacob rides.

Uttoxeter Racecourse

1.22 - Alfsboy has had a bumper and three novice hurdles to date, but has so far not produced enough to trouble the judge. All hurdles outings have been over 2m, the last couple on heavy ground and he continues over that trip and going here. Still best watched, though gaining in experience and can show some improvement. Jordan Nailor rides and claims 5lbs.

4.17 - Emphatic Qualm showed improvement for hurdles with a third place at this track over 2m 4f on heavy just before Christmas and steps up to 2m 7+f here. Experience of the track will help in this maiden event and the extra distance can bring out a little more, so would appear to be good each way value. Jordan rides and again takes off 5lbs.

Newbury Racecourse

3.35 - We run two in the Betfair hurdle.

  • Sir Valentine was a recruit from the flat and though falling on his hurdles bow at Chepstow, has gone well since, winning here, then second at Wetherby, before a creditable third last time at Ascot on his handicap debut. He remains on that mark of 131, which with improvement to come, looks a good mark. The course experience will clearly be in his favour and a good run is expected. Jamie Bargary rides and the pair have each way chances.
  • Stolen Silver has a similar profile in that he’s also had four outings this season, not finishing the first, but then winning two with a second place between them. On a mark of 140 for that last win at Haydock three weeks ago, he’s up 3lbs but gives the impression of more to come too. Probably not much between our two and would be good to see them fighting out the finish! Sam rides, having come on from Warwick.
