Taunton & Ludlow Racecourse

Taunton Racecourse hosts three of Nigel Twiston-Davies runners and Ludlow Racecourse two today.

Taunton Racecourse

1.00 - Larch Hill - Returned to action after around 18 months off in mid-October only to take a fall over fences, but ran well to take third place over hurdles at Stratford two weeks later. Stays over the smaller obstacles here, up to 2m 3f but down a couple of pounds to 106. That’s a pound lower than his last win (over fences) when the going was good and on similar ground today, he has a decent chance if maintaining the improvement. Jordan Nailor claims 5lbs and we’re hopeful of a good run on this mark.

2.05 - Robinshill - Made a successful return at Ludlow three weeks ago, making all over 2m on good ground. He’s up 5lbs to 122 for that, but goes over a similar trip and ground. The style of the win showed him to be in good form and he must have a chance of following up despite meeting a well handicapped favourite. Jordan Nailor retains the ride, takes off 5lbs and a good run expected.

2.40 - One Forty Seven - Started his season with a win at Southwell from a mark of 124 but things haven’t gone so well since. Was given a 6lb rise for his next two outings and though back a couple of pounds a month ago at Fakenham, unseated his rider when going well. Over 2m 7f on good ground today will suit and he can again go well with good each way chances. Tom Bellamy aboard.

Ludlow Racecourse

2.15 - Checkitout - Steps up to 3m 1+f after an encouraging debut for us and first time over fences, when 5th of 18 at Uttoxeter over 3f shorter four weeks ago. Down a couple of pounds to 123 will also help, he’ll enjoy the longer trip and with more to come, can be expected to go close. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.

3.25 - Don’t Shout - Showed promise last season including a novice hurdles win on similar ground to today’s good at Hereford. Didn’t seem to go so well in two subsequent outings on soft, the last in February, but has enjoyed a good break and returns in good shape. Down a couple of pounds to 116 puts him on a nice mark and with plenty to come, the step up to 2m 5f on favoured ground can see him go close. A good run expected, Zac Baker rides in this conditionals event claiming 5lbs.
