Newton Abbot Racecourse 11th October
.45 - The Mick Preston has had just the one bumper outing at Hereford last December, staying on strongly to win in nice style. Makes his hurdles bow here over 2m 1f against some experienced rivals, but he’s come on nicely, should go very well and can get amongst them. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
.45 - Al Dancer was a smart hurdler and took to fences nicely too, winning at the first time of asking at Cheltenham’s October meeting last year. Went well in all four subsequent races, all over 2m, without winning, but improved along the way. Steps up to 2m 5f with the longer trip hopefully bringing out some more. Sam Twiston-Davies aboard and another good effort expected.
.15 - Emphatic Qualm has had just three outings and though last of five in a bumper on his racecourse debut, went on to show a good degree of promise in a couple of novice hurdles when upped in trip, both on heavy ground. Makes his handicap bow here on a mark of 113 over 2m 5+f with the good to soft ground more in his favour. Plenty more to come and a good run expected with each way prospects. Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle.
.50 - Stolen Silver was another with a good hurdles profile, winning a novice event, then a Haydock grade 2, both over 2m. We’ve been looking forward to seeing him over fences however and makes his chasing debut here over a similar trip. This looks a decent race and will tell us a lot, but he’s expected to take to fences very well and can get amongst them. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
.20 - Rockingham South makes his racecourse debut in this 2m 1/2f bumper partnered with Sam Twiston-Davies. Is well related to a full brother bumper winner and half brother hurdles winner. Has shown up well at home and ready for this debut, so hopeful of a good run with plenty to look forward to.
