New Years Day Racing Cheltenham
Happy New Year to all our stable followers, may 2020 be successful for all!
Four runners at Cheltenham Racecourse today, all with Sam Twiston-Davies riding.
12.15 - Redford Road has been a revelation in 2019, with three wins and two runners up spots from his five outings, improving every time. This included a win here at the December meeting over 3m on soft ground, but appears to be as effective over all trips, do today’s drop back to 2m 4+f shouldn’t be an issue on similar ground. This is a highly competitive event for only six runners, but we have to be confident and another good can be expected, hopeful of continuing the good work.
12.50 - Cogry needs no introduction with regard to his form here at Cheltenham, winning three of his seven appearances since October ‘17 and placing in two more. This includes a win at the December meeting in his customary tough style over a similar trip of 3m 2f to today, but he’s up 4lbs to 143 for that. Sure to run his usual solid race, he has another good chance and we are hopeful of continuing the sequence.
2.00 - Ballyhill won this race in 2018 from a mark of 133 and did well to take third last year from a mark of 144. He comes In to the race today on a 7lbs lower rating of 137 having not gone so well in two outings so far this season. He does however clearly enjoy this course and is in good order for this renewal and from this mark had another very good each way chance in a strong renewal and is expected to go close, though we would hope for better.
3.50 - Don’t Go Gentle made a promising start to his career when third on his bumper debut over 1m 5f at Market Rasen on his debut back in October, attempting to virtually make all until fading in the late stages. Has been given some time since but comes in to this expected to show improvement for that experience and over a furlong further here, is expected to go very well.
Hopeful of a bright start to 2020 for the yard... once again, we hope it’s a great one for all our followers.
