Ludlow & Newbury Racecourse
Four to Ludlow, one to Newbury today.
12.30 - One Fine Man makes his novice hurdle debut having had the one bumper five weeks ago at Carlisle, where he went well until weakening two out. Meets similar soft ground over 2m today and in what looks a decent novice event, can be expected to show improvement for the hurdles. Each way chances, Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
1.00 - Mr Antolini made his chasing bow at Stratford over 2m 5f on the last day of October finishing 2nd of 5, then ran at Wetherby in mid-November, finishing 5th of 7 in a handicap over 2m 3+f from a mark of 139. Goes over 2m 4f today and heading in the right direction, can go close. Sam aboard.
2.35 - Wicked Willy hasn’t won over fences for almost two years now, but finds himself back on the same mark of 127 that he won from and similar soft ground. Showed good form when winning over hurdles at Kempton in March but not shown the same in three chases since from marks of 132 and 130, but down further should see him in with a chance over this 3m. Conditions to suit, Sam rides.
3.10 - Arctic Gold hasn’t made the winners enclosure since December ‘16 despite running several good races and taking several places. Has steadily come down the handicap from a high of 138 and finds himself on 115 for this Ladies Amateur riders handicap. Showed some good signs last time out at Bangor and can make the frame again here. Miss Leanne Williamson rides and claims 7lbs.
12.50 - Whiskey Moon returned from pointing last month for a novice hurdle at Wincanton over 2m 5+f, pulling up two out. Drops back to 2m 1/2f today, should be better for the Wincanton outing but needs to find some more and probably best watched for now. Mark Grant rides.
