Cheltenham, Huntingdon & Kempton
Six runners across three meetings today, with four at Cheltenham day two.
1.45 - Kingofthecotswolds had shown he was progressing nicely and proved that with a good win at Ludlow over 2m three weeks ago. Steps up to 2m 4+f today, but this expected to suit and he can prove a real threat to the odds on favourite. Jack Savage rides and claims what could prove to be a valuable 7lbs.
2.10 - Count Meribel is two from three over fences including a course win over 2m 4f in November. Didn’t go so well last time at Ascot when last of 4 but deserves to take his chance here and the step up to 3m 1/2f may bring out some more from him. A good run expected, Mark Grant rides.
2.50 - Ballyandy won the festival bumper back in 2016 and has other creditable festival experience with a 4th in the Supreme novices Hurdle If 2017. He comes into this in good form with a win at Uttoxeter in January (up 6lbs for that to 148) then a good third at Ascot in February, both over slightly shorter trips than today’s 2m 5f. Conditions will suit and he looks to have very good each way chances. Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle.
4.50 - Torpillo was unbeaten in three until last time out when last of four at Haydock, but previous wins had come on softer ground, which he will get today. This is his handicap debut, finds himself on top weight and a mark of 141, but there’s more to come and a good run can be expected with good each way prospects. Daryl Jacob rides.
5.30 - Jelski goes in the champion bumper having had two outings, the first when 5th of 11 at Ascot in November, then winning at Ffos Las in January. Needs to step up here, but is progressive and expected to give a good account on similar ground to Ffos Las. Jamie Bargary rides.
DECLARED RUNNERS FOR LADIES DAY - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
7.15 - Sir George Somers sticks to one mile handicap and drops a further 3lbs to a mark of 60 here, his lowest mark. Hasn’t really been competitive the last couple of outings but this mark will help as will the grade and a better run expected. Liam Keniry rides.
