Four off to Ludlow and two to Kempton today.
2.20 - Midnight Trouble has shown ability in both runs to date, a bumper at Warwick and a hurdle at Ffos Las, both over 2m, the latter on heavy. He steps up to 2m 5+f on soft today with the trip expected to bring out more in him as should the surface. Jack Savage rides, claims 7lbs and they could be good each way value.
3.55 - Colin’s Brother has won both his outings here over this trip and his last two, here and at Leicester over 2m 4f. He’s in good form and is up from 124 on the first of those wins to 132 today. The faster ground (good to soft) is also in his favour and despite the rise, he is expected to go close, but we would hope for better. Jamie Bargary rides and his 3lbs claim may prove valuable.
4.30 - Lagavara showed ability and determination to win at Leicester in December from a mark of 105 but up to 111 subsequently saw her pull up next time and down the Field in two more outings. She’s back to 108 today over a similar trip and ground to her win, so with terms and conditions more to her liking, should go better here. Can go close, Jamie in the saddle.
5.35 - Oh Michelle ran very well to be second at Huntingdon two outings ago after nearly a year off, but pulled up in higher grade last time at Sandown. Still a maiden after 6 outings, but she’s been second three times and deserves to go one better. Hopefully that will be today back in lower grade and with conditions looking good for her. Jamie aboard and a good run expected.
3.05 - Southport has won a maiden hurdle 18 months or so ago but since being handicapped had finished mid-divisionon most subsequent outings. Pulled up with a burst blood vessel on his chase debut in October but comes back fit, well and in good order. The 3m should suit today and though possibly be best watched for now, wouldn’t surprise if finding his form again now. Tom Bellamy aboard.
4.10 - Astracad is now a 12yo and has been coming down the ratings from 135 this time last year to 118 today. Down in grade too, this could present a good opportunity for him and he looks to have at least a good each way chance over the trip of his last win, at Cheltenham 18 months ago from 131. A good run expected, Tom rides.
