Nine runners across three meetings today.
12.30 - Sartene’s Son has had just three runs, one bumper and two novice hurdles. Tried at various trips from 2m to 3m 2f, he tries 2m 3+f here and may well be suited by this and the heavy ground. Has come on for his experience though and a better run expected here. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
1.00 - Scotchtown was second over course and distance four weeks ago on the same ground, just his second time over fences. A reproduction of that run would see him go close of course, but with improvement to come, we’re very hopeful, Sam aboard.
3.20 - Templehills has had six chases to date, either winning (twice) or failing to complete. Appreciates trips of around 2m 4f and a winner on heavy ground, so this should suit. Two pounds better off on 137 today, 6lbs more than his last winning mark, but more to come. Regular pilot of late, Dave Crosse rides. 3.55 - Good Boy Bobby won his debut bumper over course and distance by a nose and takes a 7lb penalty. Certainly has come on for that, wears a hood this time. Another good run expected, Sam in the saddle.
12.45 - Angels Antics has gone well on all five races to date including a win on her third outing at Ffos Las. Arguably her best run last time when a close second at Haydock two weeks ago over 2m 3f, she steps up both in grade and trip here. Certainly on the upgrade, she has a good chance here and can go close under Davy Russell.
1.20 - Little Jon has shown signs of returning to his best in his last couple of outings with the handicapper providing a further 3lb respite to 123 today, some 14lb lower than his last win, over two years and 14 outings ago. Probably suffered from a hike to 143 at the time, but looks well on again now. Looks to have a good each way chance, Tom Bellamy rides.
3.00 - Benbens won well here over 3m 5f last time and the drop back to 3m won’t worry him. He’s up 3lbs and previous winning rider Zac Baker switches to our other runner in this race, Double Ross, with Jamie Bargary taking over and claiming 3lbs. Double Ross also appreciates this trip and ground and is on a good mark of 144 if returning to his best. Both look to have good each way chances with nothing between them.
3.45 - Lagavara is another who won nicely last time out at Leicester and though up 6lbs is improving enough to cope with that. Over a furlong further here at 2m 5+f, the heavy ground shouldn’t bother him and he can go close again. Tom Humphries takes off 7lbs, another good run expected.
