We have five flights of hurdles and schooling fences on our uphill grass gallops and the outdoor school is used for grid work and practice over "baby" obstacles before horses graduate to schooling on the gallops.
Of the two all weather gallops, which are against the collar all the way and which help considerably with our reputation for turning out tough, fit racehorses, the latest was installed in July 2003 and is less steep than the original. It is proving to be very successful, especially for the younger horses, and means that training needs can be tailored accordingly.
