STABLE NEWS

THE END OF A SUPER SEASON
With a total of 87 winners and £1,319,375.11 in prize money, we managed to have our best ever season!
In addition, PIGEON ISLAND won the Channel 4 trophy for the winning-most horse of the season. His 7 wins from 21 runs was actually matched by Joe Lively, but Pigeon took the trophy by virtue of having more seconds. The stable finished fourth in the Trainers Championship lists and we look forward too trying to improve on that again in the next twelve months.

PADDY BRENNAN had a superb season too gaining a total of 104 winners, his best ever too, of which 60 were for our stable. Coincidentally, he finished fourth in the jockeys table and will also look upwards and onwards to go even higher.

As we move on now for the new season, we should have another good team of summer jumpers that will hopefully get us off to a similar start as last year!

REFLECTED GLORY?
Nigel and connections are pictured receiving their trophies after Ballyshan's win for our Jump for Racing club at Warwick on January 12th. Note how Nigel has managed to get himself into the same photo twice!

Reflected glory!
After Will's performance at Walthamstow, Sam was not to be outdone! He won the 14.2 Pony Derby at Aintree and then Will followed up by finishing third in the 12.2 division. Just a couple of years then before the name Twiston-Davies reappears on the racetrack in Jockey form!
The win on Tuesday 13th November at Kempton by Beat the Boys, was a course record for the track over 2m 4 1/2f. The time of 5 minutes 14.80 secs was a particularly good time on the prevailing good ground.
Owners, New Club Ladies, could have a lot of fun with their gelding and his next race should be of special interest.

AND THE WINNERS ROLL ON!
After the excellent performance of the team at Cheltenham, another winner for the yard on Saturday night (20th October), but unfortunately not one we can add to our seasonal total!
Nigel's son Will rode a perfect race to take the Shetland Pony Derby in tremendous style in the colours of Mr Mould, at Walthamstow Greyhound Track's Injured Jockey's Fund night. Front rank for most of the way, Will and his willing partner, Ulverscroft Drambuie, quickened up off the final bend to rout his rivals. Although Ulverscroft Drambuie may not step up on this form, it looks as though young Will can be a threat to all - watch this space!

A warm welcome to our new conditional jockey, RICHARD KILLORAN, who joins us from Brendan Powell's yard. Richard was the winner of last season's hands-and-heels series and we look forward to him riding many winners for us. "My aim is to get myself more established this season, but also to target a new series for jockeys who have ridden fewer than 20 winners" stated Richard in the Post. Well, let's hope he doesn't restrict himself to twenty winners then!

NOTED IN THE RACING POST "CHATROOM" COLUMN....
Twiston-Davies on fire
"He didn't have any form when he joined me" - must be the biggest understatement of the week after Mr Ironman slaughtered the opposition in his first chase. Although it can't last, this trainer is so hot he makes bonfire night look on the cool side. Sensational strike-rate from the incredible Twiston-Davies.
Graham Smith
(Mr Smith, we shall be doing our utmost to make sure it DOES last!)

SOME CHANGES IN THE STABLES (PART ONE - HORSES)
Those of you who look at the "Our horses" page will find that there have been a few changes lately. We try to keep this up to date as far as horses that are currently in training, but we also have some favourites that are sidelined for some reason, but are still with us. This list currently comprises the following:
Ace of Clubs, Asudo, Baby Run, Ballyfitz, Best Profile, Carlitos, Call Me Edward, Golden Child, Golden Duck, Stinker, Syncopated Rhythm, Thai Vango, The Cool Guy and Where's Trigger.
We are hopeful that we will see all of these back on the track in the not too distant future.

SOME CHANGES IN THE STABLES (PART TWO - STAFF)
There are also a number of changes in the staff that look after our inmates and these can be seen on the 'our staff' pages. Nice to see the return of NATHALIE HALKYARD who obviously couldn't live without us!
A warm welcome to all the newcomers too! (More targets for Joe Akehurst!)

ALL CHANGE IN THE OFFICE!
The office will not be the same following the news that Madeleine Hindley has decided to retire after some 17 years service looking after the stable accounts. Madeleine joined when we had about 15 horses and 5 staff and has presided over considerable growth in that time. We would like to place on record how much Madeleine's efforts have been appreciated and the words "Couldn't have done it without you" certainly ring true here! We wish Madeleine a long and happy retirement.

Gemma Biddlecombe has also decided to move on after over 5 years service as Racing Secretary. Gemma is going to persue a career in Osteopathy and also will take a hand in the Saddlery business owned by her father and where her husband, Robert, also works. Again, many thanks to Gemma for all her efforts and we wish her well for the future.

In saying goodbye to Madeleine and Gemma, we also say hello to Sam Wallin and Emma Walker who have taken over the respective roles. Welcome!
